Dege put in his POD_P4_Patcher.zip a Readme.txt. He explains in a very clear way, what you have to do:
Planet Of Death Patcher for Pentium 4 processors
------------------------------------------------

If you have a Pentium 4 processor and cannot run
POD, you may find this patch program useful.
This version can patch the following POD executables:

- Software MMX version: Podmmx.exe (1,317,888 bytes)
- Direct3D version: Podd3dx.exe (1,616,384 bytes)
- 3Dfx Glide version (for Voodoo2): Podx3dfx.exe (1,462,784 bytes)

Usage: just copy the patcher exe (POD_P4_Patcher) to
the directory of the executables and start it. This
patcher searches for the three supported executables,
and the ones found should show up in the list. If you
want to search an executable in another directory, do
it with "Browse" button.
If an executable is detected as a supported one, you
can do the patching and restoring with "Patch" and
"Unpatch" buttons.

Good luck!
So it's clear, why some of you can patch their files with the P4 patch, while others can't. The file that you would like to patch (e.g. Podx3dfx.exe) must have the correct size! For Podx3dfx.exe it's 1,462,784 bytes. If the file size is different, you get the message: Unknown file. The Podx3dfx.exe that Dege mentions in his Readme.txt is from the "big" 3dfx-Patch with 24 MB.

Ok, I just patched it with the GS2 patch, which, in general pated everything ... this is why you have to do thr Vsync stuff to slow it down. This problem was fixed with the GS2 patch..,

I know that the filezise is different, that's what I'm trying to tell...

I have Pod Extended Time (which includes all updates as far as I know) but it won't let me update the 3dfx... POD ET has it's own install program which prevents me from updating manually.

I figured maybe someone had already overcome this problem.... oh and Holger, your page doesn't want to load

The only thing you need is a proper Podx3dfx.exe, I mean with the size 1,462,784 bytes. Maybe someone could send you this file via e-mail.

If you can't reach my site, try these other links:

Dege, the author of dgVoodoo, hast just released a new beta of his glide wrapper. It's called dgVoodo1.31 Beta - r1. Maybe some of you have better luck with this one:

Dege has just released a new version of his P4 patch. Here's the Readme:
Planet Of Death Patcher for Pentium 4 processors (v1.1)
-------------------------------------------------------

If you have a Pentium 4 processor and cannot run
POD, you may find this patch program useful.
This version can patch the following POD executables:

POD:
- Software MMX version: Podmmx.exe (1,317,888 bytes)

POD Update (24MB patch):
- 3Dfx Glide version: Podx3dfx.exe (1,462,784 bytes)
wpod3dfx.exe (1,236,992 bytes)
- Direct3D version: Podd3dx.exe (1,616,384 bytes)
wpodd3d5.exe (1,238,528 bytes)

POD Force Feedback patch:
- 3dfx Glide ForceFeedback version: Podx3dfx.exe (1,236,992 bytes)
- Direct3D ForceFeedback version: Podd3d5x.exe (1,238,528 bytes)
Wpodd3d5.exe (1,238,528 bytes)

Pod Gold executables:
- 3Dfx Glide Version: Podx3dfx.exe (1,462,272 bytes)
Wpod3dfx.exe (1,194,496 bytes)
- Direct3D version: Podd3dx.exe (1,616,384 bytes)
Wpodd3d.exe (1,197,568 bytes)
- 3Dfx Force Feedback: Podx3dfx.exe (1,473,536 bytes)
Wpod3dfx.exe (1,205,248 bytes)
- Direct3D Update (and Force Feedback??): Podd3dx.exe (1,508,864 bytes)
Wpodd3d.exe (1,238,016 bytes)

The exe info above may not correct because I am confused of
various POD exes, there are too many of them!

Good luck!

Holger

Hello Amazo_Phanto,

since the homepage of Dege is temporary unavailable, you can download dgVoodoo 1.31 and the P4-Patcher from my POD page:

Hi Sebby,

the other patches for POD aren't on my homepage, because I have a bandwith limit. Most of them are on the Ubisoft FTP server.

Holger
