All tracks and cars available here!

Message par Mercury »

As of Jan 2007, there are two websites with virtually all POD cars and tracks available for download.

POD PhReAk's site:

http://www.thebasingers.com/0706milbs/pod/

My own site:

[Edited 2009/05/05: Unfortunately my site is currently down; I have saved all the content and plan to bring it back in the future.]

You think they deserve individual mention?

Point well taken. 8)

I did not open the link first. I thought Qball was the only one that had them. ;)

Nice work Mercury! :)

I just noticed that some of the OEM tracks are slightly different from the retail ones. An example is Canyoem (Canyon). This might be important for all Poddies who want to race these tracks in another version.

I updated my POD page http://www.bredel.homepage.t-online.de/ ... glish.html with installation hints for new tracks and cars recently.

Regards,
Holger

Well, that's the point. Retail != OEM. I wonder, though, how were the ----OEM tracks made? Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all the true OEM tracks only in bl3 format?

I notice that CanyOEM has a slight difference in the red flashing lights along the road - in an OEM install of POD, all the lights blink simultaneously, but in CanyOEM they are unsynchronised, like in retail Canyon, but many of them don't blink at all.

This actually doesn't match either OEM Canyon nor retail Canyon.

So what's the story?

If my memory serves me right, I remember Redline wrote about the difference between OEM and Retail for the 8 original tracks. :rtfm:

One that sticks into my mind is Galleria. In OEM the shortcut was blocked with wood but you were able to go through it, In Retail the shortcut is open. :casse:

 The other was Plant21. In OEM there was a section on the road that had a bump that allowed you to jump over a wall, in Retail the road was leveled.

 Also on HQ obstacles were added

:keskidi: Perhaps you can ask Skubidou to post Redline's comments about the tracks.

Let's re-live the memories 8)

OEM Veitland (of which there is no BL4, apparently) had a few short dead-ends in the form of blocked-off roads that aren't present in the retail version. (This makes sense from a logical point of view - you have to have roads leading to and from Veitland - no one in their right mind would build a circular road that's not connected to anything.)

I think they were, but I'm not 100 percent sure, because I've only the retail version.

Skubidou and some WitnessTeam members have converted some OEM tracks from BL3 to BL4 format. You can read it here: http://membres.lycos.fr/skubidou/Pod/

Very nice, but you're missing Fallen.

I notice also that you have the 3dfx-only version of Beach and Night (no BL3).

And, I just realized that Hellway on the witnessteam site is also 3dfx only.

Does no one need BL3's any more?

Nice, thanks, but now you somehow compressed each file twice so your ZIP files are twice as big as they need to be...

I updated the list (sorry, forgot to do it the last time.)
